THE CHAMPION

Reed Business Information is part of the RELX Group (formerly Reed Elsevier), the world leader in B2B information, data services, analytical instruments and workflow solutions. It is active in various sectors and industries, and has more than 28,000 employees in 180 different countries. In 2015, the RELX Group recorded a turnover of 7,471 million euros (5,971 million pounds).   Reed Proagrica is a business unit that strives to provide superior products and services that enable its clients to continue producing the world’s food supplies in a sustainable manner. The brands Boerderij, Groenten & Fruit and Farmers Weekly form the basis of Proagrica. This also applies to F4F and DBT, the brand that connects and integrates. In this way, Proagrica offers its clients the opportunity to work better and more effectively with their suppliers and customers.

THE CHALLENGE

Within the RELX Group, Reed Business Information works with various systems and software solutions. Thanks to both autonomous growth and acquisitions, the IT management system is complex. There was a desire for standardisation in completing the ‘web first’ content strategy and migration to SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions.

THE WORKOUT

In order to allow editorial departments to work in a ‘media-neutral’ way with the specific requirements of the various publication channels, Proagrica chose a best-of-breed solution.

Content Station and elvis DAM form the heart of the multimedia content production and WoodWing facilitates the workflow management. Writers and editors produce channel-independent articles in Content Station’s Online Editing tool. The requirements for both print and web are supplied in these medium-neutral articles. This allows staff to write specifically for print and, at the same time, earmark certain sections of the same article for web publication. The Digital Asset Management System, elvis DAM, enriches the articles with visual material. All of this is guided by an integrated WoodWing workflow, in which various personnel work with the folder. Reed carries out careful final editing in this medium-neutral folder.
The workout consisted of:

  • analysis
  • design
  • implementation
  • management and maintenance

THE RESULTS

Shorter creation and production cycles
Multi-channel publication possible
Dedicated service desk
Online collaboration in workflow
Quicker time to market
Savings on DTP production costs
